In honor of National Homeownership Month, ACDS would like to share a success story.
I have been a legal assistant at a foreclosure law firm for almost 7 years. Purchasing a home was definitely something I did not think would ever happen to me being a single mother of three until I discovered the MAP program with ACDS, Inc. It was not what I was expecting from a homeownership program but I mean that in a good way. Since I can remember, one of my goals in life was to buy a house. I wanted to be able to do it on my own so that my children can see that and learn from it. I have been renting apartments and houses for almost 17 years and it was time for me to have a house that I could call home. The process was easier and shorter than I was expecting.
I started the program in December of 2016 and I received my certificate in February of 2017. The certificate does not expire for a year which also worked in my favor due to my credit score not being where it needed to be. By the end of November of 2017, my credit score was where it needed to be, so I found a house and went to settlement on March 2, 2018.
ACDS, Inc. makes sure that their clients are aware of everything that is going on and that we are not being taken advantage of. Sheila White (my housing financial advisor) was always there to answer my questions and I was always informed of what was going on every step of the way. She made sure that before I signed any documents that it was in my best interest. Thanks to the Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP), I was able to get some help with my down-payment and I was sure to buy a home where the monthly mortgage payments were affordable for my budget. My kids and I absolutely love our new home and I honestly don’t think that I would have been able to do it without these homeownership programs. Every day I still can’t believe that it is MY house and I am so grateful of that because of their programs I was able to achieve my goal. -P. Scott
